SHIFTING LINES

Halfway between a watch and a piece of jewelry, this sculptural creation discreetly captures the essence of time and transforms the wrist into a precious setting thanks to its supple bracelet with fluid, organic lines.

At Cartier, certain creations blur the lines between horology and jewelry to the point where distinguishing between them becomes almost pointless. Myst belongs precisely to this category of hybrid objects, designed as much to tell the time as to evoke an aesthetic emotion. The piece embodies the Parisian brand’s signature taste for graphic compositions, interplay of curves, and subtly orchestrated volumes, where every detail contributes to a perfectly mastered overall vision.

Available in two versions, Myst tames time with restraint. Time never dominates the design, but slips into it with finesse, almost discreetly. On a dial studded with some forty diamonds, two slender sword-shaped hands – gold on one version, blued on the other – delicately indicate the hours, driven by a quartz movement. The small yellow or white gold case, measuring 19.7 x 15.4 mm, seems to dissolve into the arabesques of the bracelet, as if absorbed by its own decoration. But the fascination of this new piece presented at Watches and Wonders lies above all in its sculptural bracelet made of gemstones, sometimes accented with black lacquer. Devoid of a visible clasp or exposed screws, it rests on an ingenious tubular system concealed within each rounded link. Thanks to integrated springs, the assembly becomes flexible and fluid, naturally conforming to the wrist. Once worn, imbued with an enigmatic aura, this Cartier creation becomes almost a talisman.
