Among the novelties presented at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, Patek Philippe also introduced a refined interpretation of one of its most established complications with the new Reference 5396R-016.
Building on the long-standing success of the 5396 line, it combines the Manufacture’s patented Annual Calendar with a more contemporary yet understated aesthetic.
Presented in a fully polished rose-gold case measuring 38.5 mm in diameter and 11.2 mm thick, the watch maintains well-balanced, classic proportions.
The warm tone of the case is paired with a sunburst sand-beige dial, a new colour for this reference, offering a softer alternative to more traditional silver or opaline finishes.
Applied faceted “obus”-style hour markers and dauphine hands, both in rose gold, complete a design that draws on the familiar codes of the Calatrava line.
The display follows the familiar architecture of the Annual Calendar, with day and month indicated through twin apertures at 12 o’clock and the date positioned at 6 o’clock.
This lower section of the dial also incorporates a moon-phase display set within a 24-hour subdial, adding a further layer of information without disrupting legibility.
The Annual Calendar mechanism, introduced and patented by Patek Philippe in 1996, automatically distinguishes between months of 30 and 31 days, requiring only one manual correction per year at the end of February, provided the watch remains in operation.
Powering the watch is the self-winding calibre 26-330 S QA LU 24H, visible through a sapphire crystal case back.
Measuring 33.3 mm in diameter and 5.8 mm in thickness, the movement comprises 339 components and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
It is equipped with a 21K gold central rotor, ensuring efficient winding, and offers a power reserve ranging from 35 to 45 hours.
The regulating organ includes a Gyromax balance and a Spiromax balance spring, reflecting the Manufacture’s use of advanced materials and construction techniques.
As expected, the movement bears the Patek Philippe Seal, attesting to both finishing standards and rate performance.
The watch is completed by a shiny dark chestnut alligator leather strap with square scales, secured by a rose-gold fold-over clasp.
Water resistance is rated at 30 metres / 100 feet, consistent with its positioning as a classic dress-oriented complication.
