A century after Hamilton introduced its first cushion-shaped watches, the American Classic Cushion collection revisits the brand’s distinctive designs of the 1920s, bringing their Art Deco character into a contemporary mechanical watch.

Inspired by Hamilton’s Cushion Plain and Cushion Engraved models of 1926, the new collection draws on the geometric forms, architectural lines and distinctive proportions that defined the era.

With their compact, symmetrical cases and refined details, the watches recall a period when wristwatches were becoming not only practical timekeepers but also expressions of personal style.

The collection comprises two case sizes, 30 x 30 mm and 34 x 34 mm, with stainless steel cases available in different finishes, including yellow gold-coloured PVD coating. All models maintain a slim profile of just 8.1 mm.

The 30 mm models include reference H36109710, featuring a beige sandblasted dial with Arabic numerals and Super-LumiNova. It is paired with a black or brown leather strap fitted with Hamilton’s Easy Click system for convenient strap changes. The price is €995 or US$995.

Powering the collection is the H-42, a new hand-wound mechanical calibre based on the ETA 7001, an architecture that traces its roots to the Peseux 7001 introduced in the 1970s.

Its slim construction allows Hamilton to retain the elegant proportions of the original cushion design while incorporating a contemporary mechanical movement.

The H-42 incorporates a Nivachron balance spring and features a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. It provides a power reserve of 57 hours, bringing modern-day practicality to a design rooted in Hamilton’s watchmaking heritage.
