IWC has unveiled the Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium, an all-black interpretation of the iconic chronograph crafted in Ceratanium.
Characterised by its distinctive dark finish, this material developed by IWC combines the advantages of titanium and ceramic: as lightweight and robust as titanium, and at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic.
Fired at high temperatures in a kiln, this patented material also offers excellent skin compatibility and a high degree of corrosion resistance.
The 41 mm × 13.1 mm Ceratanium case is matched by a Ceratanium crown and pushers.
The black dial features two vertically aligned subdials and an inner flange with a quarter-second scale.
Black applied Arabic numerals and matching hands complete the design.
The convex sapphire crystal is treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides.
The Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium is powered by the IWC-manufactured calibre 69355, a column-wheel-controlled self-winding movement operating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).
The movement features an automatic double-pawl winding system that builds up a power reserve of 46 hours.
The watch is paired with a black rubber strap with a square pattern and a Ceratanium pin buckle. Water resistance is rated at 3 bar (30 metres / 100 feet).
Presented in a limited edition of 1,500 pieces, the IWC Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium ref. IW371631 has a suggested retail price of €15,100 including VAT / US$14,400 excluding sales taxes. iwc.com
