Unveiling four new calibers in just 12 months, Girard-Perregaux has been rather busy lately. The La Chaux-de-Fonds-based marque celebrated a half-century of its Laureato model last year, with the introduction of the Laureato Fifty, including two-tone and Three Gold Bridges Tourbillon models. GP followed that up in 2026 with the Laureato Fifty becoming a permanent part of the model line and the introduction of 39 millimeter and 36mm models, showcasing the historic integrated bracelet watch design first introduced in 1975, as well as the signature bridges and grand feu enamel and precious metals dials at the heart of the brand’s savoir-faire. Today, GP is introducing yet another Laureato, the Fifty Tourbillon micro-rotor in 39mm, aiming to bring together key design and mechanical elements defining Girard-Perregaux over its 235-year history.
The Fifty Tourbillon is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and a svelte 10mm thick, with a matching integrated bracelet in the same metal offering 4mm of micro-adjust capability. Available in two Clous de Paris motif dial versions, a blue grand-feu enamel, or 18 karat rose gold, the watch features and celebrates classic Laureato and GP elements. The signature is the ‘lyre-shaped’ tourbillon at 6 o’clock supported by white gold, arrow-shaped bridges that draw on the brand’s historic three-bridge design first produced by Constant Girard back in 1867.
The relatively restrained dial features lumed white gold hands and indexes housed in the classic Laureato octagonal-shaped case that’s water-resistant to 50 meters, with the GP logo and name above the handset.
The sapphire open caseback shows off the design and finishing of the new GP8410-2574 micro-rotor movement that beats at 3Hz and offers a generous 72 hours of power reserve. The Clous de Paris elements of the dial continue to the movement side, with the motif carried through to the mainplate.
The micro-rotor is fashioned in platinum and pink gold, powering the tourbillon, hours, and minutes functions. The new caliber is 30.4 mm in diameter and 6.1 mm in height and contains some 207 components.
The two new Laureato Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor models are part of the GP catalog collection and are limited only by production capacity. The gold-dial version is priced at $95,600, and the blue Grand Feu enamel-dial model costs an even $100,000.
What We Think
Girard-Perregaux has been active and aggressive in refining the collection and bringing the brand’s historic design and mechanical innovation elements to the forefront. The Laureato Fifty Tourbillon serves as a showcase for what GP does best. From the visible bridge tourbillon to the extraordinary dial work from Donzé Cadrans SA, which is also owned by GP’s parent company Sowind Group, these are top-shelf expressions of the iconic Laureato.
Priced at around $100,000 for a steel sport watch is a big ask, but the precious metal elements of the dial, rotor, and new in-house movement, not to mention the haute horology showcase that is the bridge tourbillon, go a long way in justifying the lofty sticker price.
The watch forcefully makes the case that the Laureato deserves and is taking its rightful place alongside the classic 1970s era integrated bracelet sport watches that include the Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet, Patek’s Nautilus, as well as Vacheron’s 222 and Overseas. The Laureauto Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor suggests Girard-Perregaux is aiming to be part of that conversation and certainly deserves to be heard.
