What We Know
In 2025, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley joined H. Moser & Cie. as a “friend of the brand”, a title that can mean different things from brand to brand. Now comes the next chapter of that partnership: his first limited edition with Moser, a watch that suggests his interest in horology runs deeper than the usual ambassador arrangement. Plenty of pro athletes go for the loudest, most recognizable names. The H. Moser & Cie. x Saquon Barkley Pioneer Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Aventurine Limited Edition does the opposite: the watchmaking comes first, and the collaboration details stay quiet.
The watch keeps the general form of the base model that’s been out since 2022, with a stainless steel case measuring 42.8mm by 15.3mm thick due to the domed sapphire crystal. Without that dome, it measures 11.7mm, showing the bulk isn’t in the movement. That should be apparent, as the movement is highly skeletonized, emphasizing the three-dimensional cylindrical tourbillon. The small subdial at 12 o’clock, made of aventurine and with applied Super-LumiNova indices, was chosen, according to Barkley, because it’s eye-catching without being ostentatious. With the blue dial and white strap as a nod to his alma mater, Penn State, it’s one of a few subtle nods to the athlete’s history, and subtle is definitely welcome. Many athletes would go big or go home instead, but not Barkley. What started as a natural partnership, with Barkley choosing to wear a Moser at the Met Gala rather than an original brand partnership, has grown into something more.

“It felt like it was talking to me and where I was going, the trajectory of my life,” Barkley said when I asked why he chose a smaller independent brand instead of buying “hype” pieces more common among athletes. “In my career as a father, as a man, I felt like the hype stuff was kind of in the past. I’ve had the look where you wear the skinny jeans and big chains and all that. That’s not really my style anymore. It shouldn’t be. I’m 29, and I’ve got three kids, and I shouldn’t be dressing like I’m 21 anyway. And I feel like H. Moser fit that for me and where I was going in my life.”

The details that make this personal for Saquon are subtle, which is unusual for many collaborations. The indices glow a whiter hue for most hours, but the 2 and 6 are green, highlighting Barkley’s jersey number 26 and matching the hour-and-minute Gobolight inserts. The watch is also limited to 97 pieces, the year that Barkley was born (man, do I feel old when a 29-year-old is getting a limited edition—I should have gotten into football).

The watch features the HMC 811 automatic caliber. You can see the mainspring barrel’s wind state through the caseback, which offers a 74-hour power reserve. The movement runs at 21,600 bph and features a skeletonized rose-gold, bidirectional oscillating weight. The tourbillon bridge is hand-beveled, and the movement has a main plate and bridges with an anthracite PVD finish.
This new limited edition isn’t individually numbered. It comes on a white rubber strap with a stainless steel buckle. The retail price is $99,000.
What We Think

Saquon Barkley’s partnership with Moser reminds us not to assume how much someone famous may or may not know or care about watchmaking. After speaking with him in Philadelphia after a game (where, unfortunately, Barkley was sidelined due to a hamstring injury), you can tell his passion for Moser is real. He had genuine pride in letting that passion develop into a watch that will be part of his “legacy,” as he put it, and live beyond his career.
Then there’s the kind, caring demeanor he’s known league-wide. He apologized for an AV hiccup that he had nothing to do with and reiterated what the PR team said: the video would be in our digital press packets if we wanted to watch. He was gracious when I mentioned I grew up a Packers fan near Lambeau Field, and he lit up as he told me how great his single experience playing there was and how lucky he thought the team was to have such supportive and invested fans (just like the Eagles’ fans, he said).
I got the impression he just wants everyone to be happy as he tries his best to be a great teammate, father, and, now, ambassador for a brand he’s become a genuine fan of. Yes, we live in a world where commercial partnerships feel increasingly transparently driven by the commercial part, but you have to admit that Barkley could be choosing to put any brand on his wrist and just focus on playing football; instead, after speaking with him for a little bit, you can immediately tell that he just loves that something he truly cares about has led to this moment. It runs deeper than the watches themselves.
“The biggest thing is when I got to meet them and sit down—I’m really big on a family-like environment,” he told me in a group interview. “When I got to sit down with them and see what the family was about, how detailed they were, really, it was a no-brainer for me.”
He also has the touch of a tasteful designer, though he credits the Moser team with helping interpret his life into a watch.
“The real story behind it was I kind of just told my life story to them. That was kind of cool with me, just showing the trajectory of my life and where I was at, and this watch kind of details that to a ‘T.’”
Sure, a skeletonized cylindrical tourbillon isn’t the most conservative watch, but he also didn’t fully bling it out or emphasize team colors in an obvious way; he has played for two teams in his NFL career so far, and who knows what the future could hold, so at least the choices here speak more to him as a person than as part of a team. Compare it to other athletes’ limited editions in the NBA, NFL, and even tennis, and you can see the difference. I also appreciate that he didn’t just go with an integrated bracelet model, which seems to be everyone’s first pick. No judgment, I guess, for those who go that route. Just a few extra bonus points for a man who knows a lot about getting points (he’s already scored 440 in the NFL).
