METAS certifications are a big theme for Tudor for Watches and Wonders this year, and the black dial Black Bay 58 is among those on the list to receive the Master Chronometer certification. The three-hander as well as the GMT receive the classic five-link bracelet for a touch of refinement as well as some case adjustments following the formula of the Burgundy from last year, including a thinner profile at 11.7mm for the three-hander and the GMT keeps the its 12.8mm thickness.

Further, among the case improvements is the inclusion of the classically refined five-link bracelet to both model ranges, featuring the ever-popular T-Fit clasp. Enthusiasts will also appreciate that the new certification results in a simplified dial design with only two-lines of text on the lower half of the dial. This is true for both the three-hand 58 as well as the GMT, leaning into the retro stylings of each watch.

METAS Certification builds on COSC certification to narrow timing tolerances of the MT5400-based movements to 0/+5 seconds per day (MT5400 on the Black Bay 58, MT5450 on the GMT) as well as improved power reserves up to 65 hours- “weekend proof” by Tudor’s own wording. Certification also includes magnetic resistance up to 15,000 Gauss and guaranteed water resistance to 200m.

All of these improvements of course bring further technical credentials to the Black Bay collection but also make things more consistent across the catalog, evening out any subtle variation from model to model. The Black Bay 58 on five-link will be available for $5,350 and the GMT on five-link will be $5,650. This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
