Produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces, the RM 64-01 brings Colnago’s distinctive design language into a manual-winding tourbillon, combining the two brands’ shared focus on lightweight construction, technical innovation and craftsmanship.

Richard Mille has long been associated with professional cycling through partnerships with riders such as Mark Cavendish, Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates.

The collaboration with Colnago, one of Italy’s most renowned bicycle manufacturers, is a natural extension of this relationship.

Developed jointly with Colnago’s design team, the RM 64-01 takes inspiration from one of Richard Mille’s most recognisable architectural movements, the 2006 RM 012 Tourbillon, while incorporating visual references drawn directly from the Italian bicycle maker.

The movement is conceived around the same principles that guide the design of a high-performance racing frame: lightness, structural rigidity and clarity of construction.

Its manually wound Calibre RM64-01 measures 33.0 x 30.8 mm and is built around an ultra-skeletonised Grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges.

Microblasted surfaces, black and grey PVD treatment, extensive hand-polished bevels and carefully applied lacquer create a striking contrast that exposes the movement’s 274 components with exceptional clarity.

The architecture itself recalls a bicycle drivetrain.

The fast-rotating barrel, providing approximately 65 hours of power reserve, is positioned at 1 o’clock directly opposite the one-minute tourbillon regulator at 7 o’clock.

The upper titanium bridges feature a distinctive star-shaped profile inspired by the tubing geometry of Colnago’s historic Master frames of the 1980s, whose unique design improved torsional rigidity without increasing weight.

Finished in white lacquer with hand-painted azure blue and 5N red gold accents, these bridges echo the colour scheme of Colnago’s modern C68 bicycles.

The movement also incorporates Richard Mille’s variable-inertia balance wheel with four regulating screws, oscillating at 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour).

This free-sprung architecture improves long-term chronometric stability while enhancing shock resistance, an important consideration for a sports watch conceived around cycling.

The gear train benefits from the brand’s fast-rotating barrel concept, designed to reduce internal mainspring adhesion and improve torque delivery throughout the running period.

The technical inspiration continues into the case.

Measuring 43.21 mm x 49.94 mm with a thickness of 14.23 mm, it combines White Quartz TPT with newly developed Azure Blue Quartz TPT inserts integrated into the notched bezel.

The layered composite material offers exceptional rigidity while keeping weight to a minimum.

A 5N red gold flange, appearing for the first time on a Richard Mille sports watch, introduces a warm contrast to the white and blue case architecture.

Water resistance is rated to 50 metres / 165 feet.

The crown continues the cycling references. Crafted from Quartz TPT with a 5N red gold core, it features a lacquered Ace of Clubs, Colnago’s historic emblem, while the specially designed hands take their inspiration from bicycle cranksets.

Viewed from either side through anti-reflective sapphire crystals, the movement and case form a coherent three-dimensional composition in which the mechanics remain the central visual element.

Like every Richard Mille calibre, the RM64-01 receives extensive manual finishing throughout, including hand-polished bevels, polished locking sections, sapphire microblasting, burnished pivots, hand-finished wheels and carefully executed steel components that preserve both aesthetic refinement and mechanical performance.
