Piaget continues to expand the modern Polo 79 collection with the introduction of the new Polo 79 Sodalite, reference G0A51151

Distinguished by a blue sodalite dial framed by a white-gold case and bracelet, the latest interpretation adds a colourful natural stone to one of the Maison’s most recognisable designs.

The model builds on the revival of the Polo 79 that began in 2024 with the re-edition of the original yellow-gold watch created for Piaget’s 150th anniversary. It was followed by a white-gold version and, earlier this year, a two-tone interpretation combining yellow and white gold.

The new reference retains the defining characteristics of the collection while introducing a distinctive dial material long associated with Piaget’s expertise in ornamental stones.

First unveiled in 1979, the Piaget Polo embodied the Maison’s approach to luxury sports watches through its seamless integration of case and bracelet and its distinctive alternation of polished gadroons and satin-brushed surfaces.

These design elements remain central to the modern Polo 79 collection and are faithfully preserved in the new version.

The 38 mm case, measuring just 7.45 mm in thickness, is crafted from rhodium-finished 18-carat white gold and integrates smoothly into the matching bracelet.

The signature interplay of gadroons and brushed gold surfaces extends uninterrupted from the case to the bracelet, creating the sculptural appearance that has defined the Polo since its debut.

The main novelty is found on the dial. Instead of the gold dial featured on previous versions, Piaget has selected blue sodalite, a volcanic stone composed primarily of aluminium and sodium silicate.

Known for its rich blue colour crossed by irregular white calcite veining, each dial displays a unique pattern, ensuring that no two examples are exactly alike.

The deep blue tones create a striking contrast with the white-gold case while introducing a decorative stone long associated with Piaget’s expertise in ornamental dials.

Turning the watch over reveals the ultra-thin manufacture Calibre 1200P1 through a sapphire crystal caseback.

This self-winding movement, only 2.35 mm thick, operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and is equipped with a grey-coated 22-carat gold micro-rotor.

The movement offers a power reserve of approximately 44 hours while contributing to the watch’s slim overall profile.

Water-resistant to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet), the new Piaget Polo 79 Sodalite is fitted with a triple-folding white-gold clasp integrated into the bracelet.
