Nivada Grenchen unveiled the Autochron Automatic Orange, the latest interpretation of the Autochron line launched in 2024 to revive one of the brand’s rare late-1970s sports-chronograph prototypes.
This mechanical model pairs a compact 38 mm case with a vivid orange-gradient dial, powered by the reliable ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement.
The dial is defined by its matte black center, which gradually transitions to a vibrant orange at the periphery.
Warm beige sub-dials provide striking contrast, while applied luminous indexes ensure optimal legibility.
The chronograph layout features central chronograph seconds, a 30-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter, alongside a date display at 3 o’clock.
Surrounding the dial is a 37 mm aluminium bezel with 120 unidirectional clicks. Its positive, tactile action gives the watch a more pronounced functional character while retaining one of the visual elements associated with the Autochron’s vintage design.
The vertically brushed 316L stainless-steel case measures 38 mm in diameter, 12.7 mm thick without the crystal and 15.2 mm including it, with a 44.3 mm lug-to-lug length.
Polished details complement the brushed surfaces, while the double-domed sapphire crystal features an anti-reflective coating. A signed crown with an embossed shield logo completes the case, which is water-resistant to 20 ATM (200 metres / 660 feet).
Behind the solid caseback, the Autochron Automatic Orange is powered by the ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement with date.
Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the calibre provides a power reserve of 48 hours and drives the hours, minutes, small seconds, central chronograph seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, together with the date indication.
The Nivada Grenchen Autochron Automatic Orange is available with a black racing strap, an orange Tropic rubber strap or a stainless-steel bracelet. The straps measure 20 mm at the lugs and taper to 16 mm at the buckle.
