IWC introduces the Ingenieur Automatic 35 Ref. IW324902, expanding its compact Ingenieur collection with a new dial colour named “Pool”.
The contemporary Ingenieur traces its origins to the Ingenieur SL Reference 1832, created in 1976 by the celebrated Geneva designer Gérald Genta.
In 2023, IWC reinterpreted this design with the Ingenieur Automatic 40, carefully preserving Genta’s original aesthetic while comprehensively re-engineering the watch to meet modern standards of ergonomics, finishing and everyday wearability. Two years later, the collection expanded with the Ingenieur Automatic 35, offering the same design language in a more compact format.
The new Ingenieur Automatic 35 Ref. IW324902 retains the familiar 35 mm stainless steel case, measuring 9.4 mm in thickness and water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet), while introducing a striking new “Pool” dial that brings a lighter, more vibrant character to the collection.
Like the other Ingenieur models, the dial features the signature “Grid” pattern composed of fine lines and small squares that create visual depth while subtly catching the light.
Rhodium-plated hands and applied hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova ensure excellent legibility in low-light conditions, while the date display at 3 o’clock integrates cleanly into the balanced layout.
The bezel, secured by five functional screws, remains one of the defining visual elements of the Ingenieur.
Together with the integrated stainless steel bracelet, whose middle links attach directly to the case to improve ergonomics, it reinforces the architectural appearance originally conceived by Genta while ensuring excellent comfort on the wrist.
The crown is engraved with the historic “Probus Scafusia” medallion, reflecting IWC’s long-standing commitment to manufacturing quality.
As with the rest of the collection, considerable attention has been devoted to finishing. The stainless steel case combines satin-brushed and polished surfaces, while the bracelet contrasts polished centre links with satin-finished H-links, creating a refined interplay of light across the watch.
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback is the automatic IWC Calibre 47110.
Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movement offers a power reserve of 42 hours and features a gold-plated oscillating weight alongside circular graining and Geneva stripes.
The new reference joins a growing Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection. It accompanies the three models introduced in 2025—the stainless steel versions with silver-plated (ref. IW324901) and black (ref. IW324906) dials, and the 18-carat 5N gold model with matching gold-coloured dial (ref. IW324903)—alongside the deep blue dial (ref. IW324907) and the diamond-set version (ref. IW324911) presented earlier this year at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026.
