Baume & Mercier’s Clifton collection gains a new limited-edition interpretation centred on the manufacture’s Baumatic movement and a perpetual calendar complication.
The Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar 40mm follows the redesign of the Clifton introduced in 2025, which refined the proportions of the collection while retaining its references to Baume & Mercier watches of the 1950s.
The 40 mm stainless steel case measures 12.9 mm in thickness and combines polished and satin-finished surfaces with a domed sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
An integrated crown follows the lines of the case, while the sapphire crystal case back is secured by four screws and bears a dedicated “Limited Edition” engraving. Water resistance is rated to 50 metres / 165 feet.
The ice-blue dial provides the main visual distinction of the watch. Its guilloché pattern is combined with snailed counters and a snailed minute track, creating a surface that changes character with the light.
Rhodium-plated trapezoidal indexes and elongated Arabic numerals at 2, 4, 8 and 10 o’clock frame the display, complemented by faceted alpha-shaped hour and minute hands.
The perpetual calendar indications are arranged across the dial, with the day and month displayed in the upper portion, the date at 3 o’clock, and the moon-phase indication at 6 o’clock.
A red pointer identifies the leap-year cycle, while a black moon-phase disc carries a polished rhodium moon.
Powering the Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar is the manufacture self-winding Baumatic calibre BM13-1975 AC2, combining the Baumatic base movement with a Dubois-Dépraz perpetual-calendar module.
The movement measures 5.8 mm in thickness and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), with 21 jewels and a power reserve of 120 hours.
Its finishing includes circular-grained bridges, a sandblasted plate with snailed decoration and a gilded open-worked oscillating weight decorated with Côtes de Genève and snailed surfaces. Specific Baume & Mercier engravings complete the movement.
The watch is fitted with an interchangeable blue alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching and an all-square scale pattern.
The strap uses Baume & Mercier’s interchangeable-bar system, allowing it to be replaced without tools, and is secured by a polished and satin-finished stainless steel pin buckle.
The Baume & Mercier Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar 40mm, reference M0A10872, is limited to 20 pieces and priced at €19,500.
This model was presented alongside a 39 mm Clifton Baumatic Automatic with a date display and the same ice-blue guilloché treatment, which we will examine in a separate article in the coming days. baume-et-mercier.com
