One of Mido’s flagship collections since 1959, the Commander line is enriched by the new Commander Datoday, a robust, sporty watch for everyday use.
In terms of design, the watch is recognisable for its wide dial opening, slim bezel, and integrated crown. It is housed in a 40 mm case with a thickness of 10.7 mm, crafted from polished and satin-brushed stainless steel with a rose gold PVD coating.
Protected by a glassbox sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, the deep green sunray-brushed dial is framed by a stepped flange incorporating a quarter-second scale for precise reading.
It features large faceted indices and flat, diamond-cut hands, all filled with white Super-LumiNova and black lacquer.
The polished, rose gold-tone indices are black-lacquered at the centre and tipped with Super-LumiNova, echoing the design of the baton-style hour and minute hands.
The black day and date display, which gives the watch its name, appears in an aperture at 3 o’clock.
The screw-down caseback ensures water resistance to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet) and features a transparent porthole revealing the automatic Caliber 80 (ETA C07.621 base).
Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), it offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.
The movement is equipped with a Nivachron balance spring, a titanium-based alloy that improves resistance to magnetic fields, shocks, and ageing.
This version is paired with a three-link stainless steel bracelet with rose gold PVD treatment, combining satin-brushed and polished surfaces.
It is secured by a folding clasp with push-buttons and an engraved logo, and fitted with quick-change spring bars.
The Mido Commander Datoday in rose gold PVD-treated steel, ref. M021.430.33.091.00, is priced at €1,150 / US$1,260.
The model is also available in stainless steel with anthracite, blue, or silver dials, priced at €990 / US$1,090. midowatches.com
