Finnish independent watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva has introduced the new Stardust Pluto and Stardust Mars, two timepieces housed in the brand’s unmistakable Korona case, forged from high-grade Outokumpu stainless steel (SUPRA 316L/4435) sourced in Finland.
Measuring 42 mm in diameter and 11.4 mm in thickness, the case features alternating brushed and polished surfaces that emphasise its bold, notched silhouette.
Both versions of the Stardust feature complex, four-part openworked dials crafted from hand-finished stainless steel.
This multi-layered construction creates a pronounced interplay of depth, light and shadow, framed by futuristic, stencilled numerals.
Protecting the intricate display is a sapphire crystal with a multi-layer anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface.
The Stardust Pluto expresses a sense of distance and stillness through its silvered, matte-finished base dial, paired with two-tone blue hands filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova for a crisp, ethereal glow.
By contrast, the Stardust Mars draws inspiration from the Red Planet, featuring a red-gold-plated, matte-finished base dial.
Its two-tone black hands create a sharp, high-contrast silhouette against the luminous backdrop.
Both dials are hand-painted with Swiss Super-LumiNova in four distinct colours, ensuring that the “Burning Orbit” display retains its technical, instrument-like character even in complete darkness.
In both models, an eccentric sub-dial positioned at 10 o’clock is fitted with a specialised hand featuring an orange-tipped rocket, adding a precise point of visual contrast to the dial composition.
The case is fitted with a screw-down crown at 4 o’clock, ensuring water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet. Inside beats a modified Chronode P1003 calibre, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offering a power reserve of 60 hours.
The movement is equipped with an openworked oscillating mass decorated with the signature Sarpaneva Moonface.
Limited to just 20 pieces per version, the new Sarpaneva Stardust Pluto and Stardust Mars can be paired either with a handmade leather strap secured by a stainless-steel pin buckle or with a Sarpaneva Moonbridge stainless-steel bracelet.
Prices are set at €16,500 on the strap and €19,000 on the bracelet, excluding sales taxes. studiosarpaneva.com
