Hamilton expands its American Classic collection with three new interpretations of the Chronograph H, a model introduced in 2021 that revisits the brand’s deep-rooted connection to motorsport through a vintage lens.
Drawing inspiration from the late 1960s and early 1970s, which was a defining era for both racing and watch design, these latest references reinterpret Hamilton’s mechanical chronograph with color, texture and period-correct details.
For this new chapter, Hamilton introduces two gradient dial executions in Hunter Green (ref. H38429861) and warm Brown (ref. H38429591), each featuring a smoky finish that darkens towards the periphery and lightens at the centre.
The effect subtly emphasises the watch’s curved profile and domed crystal, while adding depth to the dial.
A third version (ref. H38429541) adopts a bolder approach, pairing a vivid blue dial with contrasting orange accents.
Housed in a 40 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 14.35 mm, the American Classic Chronograph H balances presence with wearability.
The case is topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, reinforcing the watch’s mid-century character while ensuring optimal legibility. Water resistance is rated to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet).
Powering the watch is Hamilton’s hand-wound H-51 calibre, a mechanical chronograph that delivers a 60-hour power reserve.
Modern reliability is ensured by the inclusion of a Nivachron balance spring, which improves resistance to magnetic fields, temperature variations and shocks.
Motorsport references extend to the finer details. The hour and minute hands are treated with Super-LumiNova, while the chronograph hands are finished with contrasting lacquer for instant readability.
Perforated leather straps, offered in hunter green, chocolate brown or light brown nubuck depending on the version, echo classic racing gloves and improve breathability.
Each watch is also delivered with an additional mesh bracelet, offering an alternative look. The quick-change system allows the user to swap them quickly and easily. The lug width is 20 mm.
