Ressence is announcing today the new Type 3 MN, the result of a special collaboration with celebrated industrial designer Marc Newson.
The organic design of this model combines Marc Newson’s signature style with Ressence’s oil-filled technology, powered by the patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System).
This proprietary display mechanism, which replaces traditional hands with rotating discs, defines all Ressence watches and is also used in other Type 3 models such as the Type 3 Eucalyptus and the Type 3 BBB.
With its ergonomic elliptical silhouette, a form that Newson has continuously refined over decades of work, the Type 3 MN features a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside and minimal hands that appear suspended in an oil-filled chamber.
This unique appearance is enabled by a sophisticated internal architecture.
The Type 3 MN comprises two halves: the upper chamber, which contains the ROCS display system, and a lower, dry chamber containing the self-winding 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) movement. These are divided by a grade 5 titanium, hermetically-sealed membrane. The power reserve of the watch is 36 hours.
The upper chamber is flooded with 4.15 ml of silicone oil, cancelling out the distortion caused by light refraction and ensuring exceptional readability from any angle.
This creates a magnified projection effect that gives the illusion of information displayed directly on the glass.
The crown-free Grade 5 titanium case measures 45 mm x 15 mm and is water resistant up to a pressure of 1 ATM (10 metres / 33 feet).
The dial itself features Grade 5 titanium discs with four eccentric biaxial satellites inclined at 3° (hours), 4.75° (oil temperature and days of the week), and 6.25° (runner)
The colour palette draws on subtle yet striking hues of celadon green, grey, black, and vibrant yellow.
Engraved indications are filled with blue and green Grade A Super-LumiNova, to ensure optimal legibility in any light conditions.
Completed by a synthetic rubber strap secured by a titanium ardillon buckle, the new Ressence Type 3 MN has a price of CHF 46,000 (excluding taxes). ressence.com
