Panerai expands its Luminor line with the new Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, their first model to pair a 40 mm Luminor case with black ceramic.
This debut brings the brand’s expertise in advanced materials to a more compact format.
The signature crown-protecting bridge, now crafted in ceramic, together with the luminous sandwich dial, reinforces the Luminor’s unmistakable identity.
The complex design of the Panerai case, with its rounded surfaces and distinctive components, is engineered for high water resistance, rated at 30 bar (about 300 metres / 1,000 feet) for the PAM01460.
Each watch is tested at 25% above its guaranteed depth rating to meet Panerai’s strict standards.
A demanding material to craft, ceramic combines lightness and comfort with exceptional resistance to scratches, corrosion, and high temperatures, ensuring lasting performance.
Panerai has also strengthened key structural areas, such as the lugs, to enhance robustness and shock resistance during everyday wear.
Protected by a sapphire crystal, the black sun-brushed dial features a “sandwich” structure composed of two superimposed plates.
The upper layer bears cut-out Arabic numerals and indices, partially revealing the lower layer coated with white Super-LumiNova X2, which emits a green luminescence in low light.
While the hours, minutes, and small seconds hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova that glows green, the second time zone hand, recognisable by its arrow tip, emits a distinct blue luminescence.
The “BiTempo” inscription on the dial is the Italian term for “dual time”.
The new PAM01460 is powered by the automatic P.900/GMT calibre, a movement renowned for its reliability and equipped with a stop-second function that enables precise time setting.
Visible through the smoked sapphire crystal of the Grade 5 titanium screwed see-through caseback, the movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a power reserve of three days, delivered by a bidirectional oscillating weight and stored in a single barrel.
The new Panerai Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460 is paired with a supple black calf leather strap and delivered with an additional black rubber strap, both equipped with the PAM Click Release System on the strap and buckle, requiring no tools for easy changes.
