Kurono Tokyo, the brand created by Japanese master watchmaker Hajime Asaoka to share the design language of his high-end timepieces with a wider audience through more accessible pricing, has introduced the the new Kurono Diver’s: ダイバーズ, an experimental study that reconsiders the conventional architecture of a diving watch.

Instead of integrating all technical elements within a single case, the concept separates the watch head from the diving structure.

At its core sits a 35 mm automatic watch that can be secured within a purpose-built 46 mm external diving case, allowing the timepiece to move from refined everyday wear to a configuration designed for recreational diving.

Individually tested and rated to 100 metres / 330 feet of water resistance on its own, the watch gains a significantly higher level of protection once placed inside the external carrier.

The dedicated diving case has been engineered to withstand depths of up to 300 metres / 1,000 feet.

The diving case incorporates a threaded bezel crafted from Extra Super Duralumin, a lightweight and highly durable aluminium alloy often used in aerospace applications.

Finished in deep red through hard anodising, the bezel contrasts with the white engraved markers to ensure clear legibility underwater.

Designed for intuitive handling, the bezel can be unscrewed using a dedicated opener and incorporates a unidirectional rotation mechanism that allows elapsed time to be tracked while preventing accidental loosening.

Inside the carrier sits Kurono Tokyo’s first cushion-shaped case.

The monochromatic dial features luminous indices paired with cathedral-style hands in blue steel, carefully skeletonised to maximise the surface of luminous material and improve readability in low-light conditions.
