The Kudoke 3 by Stefan Kudoke, introduced in 2023, features an unconventional method of displaying the time.
Minutes are indicated in a classical manner by a large hand on the upper dial ring, while the hours are displayed on a three-part applied plate on the lower dial level.
A three-armed hour hand moves between the dial levels, switching between scales to indicate the hour. The hours 2, 6, and 10 appear twice before the active arm continues its progression.
The German independent watchmaker has now released the Kudoke 3 Nocturne, a special edition with three distinctive features: a dark dial, a matte sandblasted stainless steel case, and a movement decorated with a new “Flakes” hand-engraving.
Protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the galvanic black upper dial is positioned above a base dial with elements treated in black gold.
Instead of high contrasts, the design is defined by subtle differentiation within a dark tonal spectrum. Even the dial printing follows this approach, executed in silver rather than white.
In contrast to the regular versions of the Kudoke 3, the 39 mm x 9.8 mm case is entirely matte with a sandblasted finish, including the onion crown.
The screwed caseback displays the hand-wound Kaliber 1 movement through a sapphire crystal porthole.
Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a power reserve of 46 hours, the movement is meticulously decorated with the new Flakes motif.
This decorative technique requires a meticulous, time-consuming process of cutting small flakes of material from the surface. The result is a lively, structured texture with subtle light-reflecting properties.
Water resistant to 5 bar (50 metres / 165 feet), the watch is paired with a suede leather strap secured by a pin buckle in matte sandblasted stainless steel.
Released in a limited edition of 20 pieces, the new Kudoke 3 Nocturne is priced at €12,574 (excluding sales taxes). kudoke.eu
