The new Richard Mille RM 63-02 Automatic Worldtimer offers a distinctive interpretation of the world time function, a complication which enables the wearer to keep track of time in multiple cities across the globe, typically covering twenty-four time zones.
This makes the RM 63-02 an ideal instrument for global travellers and for those who regularly manage international communication.
Its key innovation lies in the setting mechanism. Instead of relying on a crown or pushers for adjustment, Richard Mille’s engineers have integrated the entire operation directly into the rotating bezel.
We recently had the pleasure of handling the latest version of this model at the Richard Mille boutique in Milan.
Presented in red gold and titanium and featuring an openworked dial with pink and burgundy accents, it delivered the characteristic Richard Mille presence on the wrist: reassuringly solid yet light and comfortable, with exceptional attention to detail throughout.
We are pleased to share a selection of live images of the watch with our readers.
The RM 63-02 has a round 47 x 13.45 mm case in satin-finished 5N red gold with polished bevels, paired with a grade 5 titanium caseband finished to match the front.
The microblasted 5N red gold bezel, mounted on ball bearings, allows the selection of a reference city with a simple rotation to instantly display the local time.
A wheel linked to the hour wheel adjusts the time for the chosen city at 12 o’clock while simultaneously updating the other twenty-three time zones shown on the bezel.
A 24-hour inner ring ensures clear readability across all time zones, and a two-tone pink and burgundy disc indicates day and night.
Assembled with twelve grade 5 titanium spline screws, the three-part case is water resistant to 30 metres or 100 feet, ensured by two Nitrile O-ring seals.
The large crown features a burgundy Alcryn collar, a material that combines the soft feel of vulcanised rubber with high resistance to abrasion and environmental factors.
A push-button at 4 o’clock enables the selection of winding, hand setting and neutral positions, indicated in the small aperture at the same location by the letters W, H and N.
The date display at 12 o’clock uses two skeletonised titanium discs and is adjusted via a gold pusher on the left caseband at 11 o’clock.
The manufacture CRMA4 automatic calibre is built on a baseplate and bridges crafted from grade 5 titanium.
Operating at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a power reserve of fifty hours, generated by a bidirectional rotor in 5N red gold and grade 5 titanium that can be viewed through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.
The finishing of the CRMA4, which includes polished bevels, brushed edges, microblasted bridges with PVD and electro plasma treatments and circular brushed wheels, highlights the level of care devoted to each component.
The watch is secured to the wrist by an ultra-comfortable white rubber strap, fastened by a 5N red gold pin buckle.
