Hanhart has unveiled the 417 TI Desert Pilot Limited Edition, the German brand’s first model crafted in Grade 5 titanium.

The “TI” designation replaces the traditional “ES,” which stands for “Edelstahl,” the German word for stainless steel.

Available in two case sizes — 39 mm and 42 mm — and limited to 200 pieces each, this flyback chronograph features a matte finish that reinforces its instrument character.

The 417 TI Desert Pilot Limited Edition draws inspiration not only from the historic 417 ES and its pilot DNA, but also from one of the most distinctive models in the brand’s contemporary collection: the Primus Desert Pilot, a watch that has accompanied rally drivers during extreme off-road events such as the Dakar Rally and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.

From the latter, it adopts key elements such as the sand-coloured dial, the sandblasted case and the coarsely woven textile strap — features that give the watch its desert character.

Protected by a highly domed sapphire crystal, the dial stays very close to the original design, with counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, old-style numerals and the historic Hanhart logo.

Legibility is ensured by contrasting black hands and numerals, all treated with Super-LumiNova.

Through the transparent sapphire crystal case back, the hand-wound AMT5100 M calibre from Sellita’s “Manufacture AMT” department can be admired.

The movement features a classic column wheel for smoother chronograph operation and beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), offering a power reserve of at least 58 hours.

It is regulated by Hanhart to an accuracy of 0 to +8 seconds per day in six positions, ensuring no negative deviation.

Designed as a robust instrument, the chronograph is also equipped with Hanhart’s proprietary shock protection system, which provides additional protection against impacts.

Water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet), the watch can be paired with either a black or sand-coloured rubber strap with a subtle woven texture, secured by a Grade 5 titanium pin buckle.
