eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion.
Vintage Hamilton 14k Gold Watch
First up this week is a classic and stylish vintage 1971 Hamilton dress watch in 14k yellow gold. The 33.5mm solid gold case is unpolished, with crisp edges. The caseback is engraved with a 25 year service award inscription from Eaton. The dial is clean and simple, with a nice sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The original crown is signed with the Hamilton logo. The watch comes with the original Hamilton signed lizard strap, and it all comes in the original box with papers! The case is a front loading type, so no movement pictures, but the seller states the watch runs well.
Vintage 1950s Benrus
Here we have another small dress watch, but this one is gold filled and a little more ‘sporty’. This vintage Benrus 3 Star has a cool dial, with alternating Arabic numerals and thin arrows for hour markers, coupled with lume filled hands. The 33mm yellow gold filled case looks sharp, and has a steel screw in back. There is no movement picture, but the seller states the watch runs well. Nice little every day type of watch from an under-rated brand that should fit into any watch budget.
Omega Constellation
Next up is a whopper, a vintage 18k gold Omega Constellation. The 35mm wide case is solid 18k gold, unpolished with nice sharp edges and original factory finish. For some reason these are usually polished, it’s so refreshing to find one in this condition. The gold dial looks original and to be in great condition, with the highly desirable broad arrow markers. This is a remarkable example of a rare and sought-after Constellation. There is no movement picture, but the seller states it runs well and keeps time. Unlike the previous watch, this one will definitely stress the wallet. But if you’re in the market for a solid gold Constellation, give this one a good look!
Vintage Accutron Spaceview
This vintage 1970 Accutron Spaceview is a gorgeous example of the classic see-through dial Spaceview model. You don’t see these too often in this large, chunky cushion case. This example is in excellent condition, with an unpolished case and nice clear crystal. It even comes on the original chiclet bracelet, which is often hard to find. The Accutron caliber 214 tuning fork movement runs per the seller. Really good looking and scarce Spaceview model.
Vintage Gruen Precision
Here’s a nice vintage Gruen Precision, complete with box and papers! The seller doesn’t state the size of the steel case, but I’m guessing it’s about 33mm. The case looks nice, with crisp bevels on the lugs. The silver/white dial is clean, with a date window at 3 o’clock and an unusual curved day window at 6 o’clock. The watch comes on a stretch band that is likely not original, but definitely period correct. Best of all this little gem comes complete with the original box and papers, which is always a treat!
Vintage Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 4520-7000 45GS
Finishing off this week strong with a beautiful vintage Grand Seiko. This vintage 1969 Grand Seiko 4520-7000 is a rare one, with a killer steel case that has broad sides that go right into the lugs. It has sharp edges and the original brushed and polished finish. The gold GS caseback medallion is in great condition as well. The dark blue dial is superb, with steel stick markers and hands. There is no date window to disturb the lovely symmetry of the dial. The watch is powered by a manual wind Seiko caliber 4520 hi-beat movement that clocks in at 36000 beats per hour, which the seller states is running and keeping great time.
