Czapek celebrates a decade since the revival of the Maison’s name with the launch of the Time Jumper and the new in-house Calibre 10 which powers it.
Reimagining the 19th-century pocket watches created by François Czapek, the Time Jumper integrates a jumping hour complication which shows 24 hours digitally using two sapphire discs (one for single digits, one for tens). The trailing minutes are indicated on a peripheral ring.
For nighttime legibility, the numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova.
The guilloché-decorated half-hunter cover can be flipped open to unveil the entire movement beneath a sapphire crystal by pressing the opening pusher at 6 o’clock.
When the cover is closed, the jumping hour complication remains visible and is magnified through an integrated loupe.
The case of the Time Jumper is 40.5 mm in diameter and has a thickness of 10.5 mm without magnifying crystal, or 12.35 mm with it.
Water resistance is rated at 3 bar (approximately corresponding to 30 metres / 100 feet).
The Time Jumper is presented in two editions. The first comes in stainless steel with an 18-carat white gold guilloché inlay and is limited to 100 pieces, while the second is entirely crafted in 3N 18-carat yellow gold and limited to just 30 units.
The tenth calibre of the Maison has been designed as the foundation of a series of in-house movements that will host a wide variety of complications.
To make this possible, the key criteria were that the movement should be self-winding, compact in both diameter and height – thus able to be housed in cases as small as 36 mm in diameter – and with a highly adaptable architecture.
The starting point for the Calibre 10 architecture is a centrally mounted winding rotor in recycled 950 platinum, skeletonised to provide an unobstructed view of the movement.
The overall design is harmonious and fluid with concentric circles and an airy interplay of bridges, visually anchored by the straight lines of the rotor’s ‘arms’, shaped like a geometry compass.
Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), Calibre 10.01 offers a power reserve of 60 hours on a single barrel.
Paired with a blue rubber strap, the Time Jumper by Czapek has a price, before taxes, of CHF 42,000 in stainless steel and white gold or CHF 64,000 in yellow gold. czapek.com
