The Freeride World Tour, also referred to as the FWT Pro or simply the FWT, is an annual series of events in which freeride skiers and snowboarders compete for individual event wins as well as the overall title of Freeride World Champion in their respective genders and disciplines.
A long-standing partner of the event since 2018, Alpina celebrates the ninth year of their partnership with a new Alpiner Extreme Automatic FWT Special Edition.
Crafted from stainless steel, the 39 x 40.5 mm cushion-shaped case selected for this model is the smaller of the two Alpiner Extreme diameters currently available, making the watch a unisex edition. Thickness is just 11.50 mm.
The case profile features a mirror-polished finish to highlight its shape, while the flat surfaces are satin-polished.
In particular, the round bezel, secured by six screws whose heads are shaped like the Alpina triangle, features vertical satin polishing, offering a smooth transition from the strap, while the satin polishing on the case is circular to match the cushion format.
Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 20 ATM (approximately 200 metres / 660 feet) thanks to the screw-in crown, which is embellished with the Alpina triangle and equipped with a rubber grip for easy handling.
The shared symbolism in the identities of the two brands — each built around a triangular mountain motif — led Alpina to place, for the first time, its partner’s emblem directly on the dial as an embossed element.
The stylised Freeride World Tour logo, depicting a curved descent along a mountain face, echoes Alpina’s own alpine heritage while underscoring the close alignment between the two brands. The grey livery mirrors the stony textures of the iconic Alpine peaks.
The hour/minute hands and the hour markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova, while the seconds hand features a counterweight shaped like Alpina’s iconic triangle logo.
A date aperture positioned at 3 o’clock completes the ensemble.
Supplied on a black rubber strap secured by a deployant clasp, the watch is powered by the self-winding AL-525 calibre, based on the reliable Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1, and boasts a 38-hour power reserve.
Operating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the movement offers a 38-hour power reserve.
This special, non-limited edition is distinguished by an exclusive Freeride World Tour engraving on the caseback.
The new Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic Freeride World Tour Special Edition, ref. AL-525FWT3AE6, has a suggested retail price of €1,695. alpinawatches.com
