The Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic by Alpina is not an ordinary watch, not only for its regulator display but also because the entire surface of its dial is coated with luminescent Super-LumiNova that glows in low-light conditions.
Regulator wristwatches are characterised by a separate display for each time indicator.
In this model, the central axis bearing the minutes hand is complemented by the hour counter at 10 o’clock and the seconds counter at 6 o’clock.
For maximum legibility, Alpina has coated the dial and counters in different luminescent colours. The dial and flange, white in daylight, glow green in low-light, while the hour and seconds counters glow blue for enhanced contrast.
All hands and applied indexes are pearl-black and filled with Super-LumiNova, glowing green in the dark.
This also applies to the large minute track set flush with the sloping flange.
The brightness of the dial, protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, is contrasted by the polished and satin-finished stainless steel case, entirely covered with black DLC.
The textured black rubber strap and the crown at 3 o’clock, fitted with a rubber grip for improved handling, complement the watch’s bold appearance.
Measuring 41 mm x 42.5 mm with a height of 12 mm, the case ensures water resistance to 200 metres / 660 feet, making the watch ready for any outdoor adventure.
The see-through screwed caseback showcases the AL-650 self-winding mechanical calibre, which operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers 38 hours of power reserve.
The new Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic, ref. AL-650LGLBL4AEBDLC, has a suggested retail price of €2,695. alpinawatches.com
