What We Know
Patek Philippe has introduced its signature World Time complication in a new configuration for 2026: the Reference 7129J-001. This release marks the first time this specific combination, plain yellow gold with a carmine-red dial and a non-gem-set bezel, has been offered in the collection. World time functionality, which allows for the simultaneous reading of all 24 full-hour time zones, has been a staple of the Maison since the 1930s, and this new reference joins the smaller sizing of the permanent collection alongside the existing white gold Reference 7130G and 7130R.

The 7129J features a 36mm fully polished yellow gold case with a total thickness of 9.18mm. The dial is finished in a bold red lacquer (which Patek calls “Carmine”), with a center section decorated with hand-executed guilloché in a basket-weave pattern. Local time is indicated by yellow-gold lozenge-shaped hands and arrow-shaped hour markers. The 24-hour disk is color-coded to differentiate day and night, using carmine red and rhodium-plated gray, respectively, accompanied by Sun and Moon symbols. The watch is fitted with a glossy red alligator leather strap and a yellow gold three-blade fold-over clasp.
Powering the Reference 7129J-001 is the automatic caliber 240 HU, an ultra-thin movement (3.88mm) that utilizes a 22K gold off-center mini-rotor. The movement has 239 parts and features a single-button mechanism at the 10 o’clock position that allows the user to advance all displays collectively when changing time zones without affecting the accuracy of the timekeeping. With 48 hours of power reserve and rocking the Patek Philippe Seal, the 240 HU movement ticks at 3 Hz and uses a Gyromax balance and a Spiromax balance spring.

The new 7129J retails for CHF 46,000, and it is now part of Patek Philippe’s current collection.
What We Think
Unlike the two existing versions of the 7130, the 7129 has a smooth, sterile gold bezel without any gem-setting, meaning that if you want a diamond-free 36mm world timer from Patek, you’ll need to be ok with a red dial.

As a huge fan of Patek’s Cottier-derived world timers, this watch immediately jumped to the top of my “can’t wait to see it” list for Watches and Wonders this year. Patek does a lovely job with color, but red is rare, especially in the core catalog (consider the ruby-clad Grand Comp like this 5271, or even the rarely seen Singapore Edition 5930G with a center red dial).
I love the idea of a classic, mid-sized yellow gold watch with such an exciting dial execution. Aside from the bezel and dial decisions, the 7129J is largely similar to the 7130, using the same movement and thus offering the same functionality. So, it’s essentially a new colorway, but it’s certainly far from boring. Expect more on this once we’ve had a chance to see the new Pateks in person over the coming days.
