Armin Strom has unveiled a new interpretation of its Dual Time GMT Resonance model in the warm tones of rose gold.

The distinctive architecture is enhanced by the elegant contrast between the rose gold case and the black grenage dial.

Rose gold polished hands and applied indexes, together with snailed chapter rings set with polished baton indexes that complement the faceted hands, add tonal depth to the composition.

Limited to 50 pieces, the Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold follows the First Edition in white gold and the Black Edition in stainless steel that we reviewed last year.

As with previous renditions, the 39 mm × 9.05 mm case features alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces to emphasise its lines, along with a slim bezel that leaves ample space for the captivating dial.

The heart of the watch is the hand-wound manufacture calibre ARF22, entirely designed, developed and produced in-house.

At its core, two independent oscillators synchronise in anti-phase through the natural phenomenon of resonance, enhancing precision. In this process, oscillating mechanisms exchange vibrational energy, influencing each other’s rate.

Armin Strom has refined this principle in watchmaking by linking the twin balance wheels with a pulsating clutch spring, which efficiently transfers vibrations between them and ensures they oscillate in perfect harmony.

Operating at 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour), the movement features twin mainspring barrels delivering a 42-hour power reserve.

Wound via the crown at 4 o’clock, the calibre incorporates two separate gear trains to independently drive the dual time displays.

The balance wheels and the pulsation of the clutch spring can be admired on the dial side beneath a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, their synchronised motion offering a mesmerising spectacle.

Unlike most dual time zone watches — which allow only separate hour adjustments, and only rarely half-hour settings — the Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance offers fully independent time-setting functionality.

Both hours and minutes can be independently set on each of the two dials, providing genuine flexibility for global travellers.

The engraved and mirror-polished sun and moon indicators located at 6 o’clock on each dial are set on 24-hour wheels mounted directly on the movement. They provide practical day/night indication while lending a refined touch.

Through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, further elements of the 231-part movement come into view.

Its symmetrical architecture is accentuated by the mirrored arrangement of openworked bridges and gears.

The finishing is executed in the tradition of Haute Horlogerie: hand-polished bevels, screws and countersinks, complemented by circular graining, perlage and Geneva stripes.

Paired with an anthracite alligator strap with grey stitching and secured by an 18K rose gold pin buckle, the Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold (ref. RG25.DT.75) is limited to 50 pieces worldwide and priced at CHF 115,000. arminstrom.com
