The watch preserves the classical proportions and double-ellipse architecture of the original Extra Plat while revealing the intricacies of a new calibre, the hand wound DR002SR, developed exclusively for this model.

While a handful of skeletonised pieces were produced by Daniel Roth in the early 1990s, this model represents the first skeletonised interpretation of the Extra Plat in the Maison’s history.

The new design allows the movement’s structure and finishing to take centre stage, highlighting the balance and restraint that have long defined Daniel Roth.

Entirely crafted in-house at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the calibre DR002SR is derived from the DR002, reworked with newly shaped bridges and plates designed specifically for skeletonisation.

These components are rendered in solid 18k 5N rose gold, providing both rigidity and a naturally warm contrast to the black-polished steel elements.

The construction ensures transparency without compromising chronometric performance, and the movement retains the technical specifications of the original DR002: a free-sprung balance operating at 4 Hz and a power reserve of 65 hours.

The skeletonisation exposes the movement’s intricate details, from hand-finished internal angles to polished bevels, Geneva waves, and hand engravings.

Encased in 5N rose gold, the double-ellipse case measures 38.6 x 35.5 mm and is just 6.9 mm thick, with a flat sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire caseback revealing the movement.

The watch is fitted with blued steel hands and a calfskin leather strap, secured by a matching buckle, with a lug width of 20 mm.

Despite its elegance, the watch remains functional with a water resistance of 30 metres / 100 feet.

Produced in limited numbers, the Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton is priced at CHF 85,000, excluding taxes. danielroth.com
