Oris today releases the Year of the Horse Limited Edition, a special model powered by one of the Swiss watchmaker’s most complex movements.
Housed in a 43 mm stainless steel case measuring 13.10 mm in thickness and water-resistant to 5 bar (approximately 50 metres / 165 feet), the hand-wound Calibre 113 combines a 10-day power reserve with a business calendar complication displaying the day, date and month, along with a week indication via a scale running around the outer edge of the dial.
Created to mark the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, which begins on 17 February 2026, the watch is characterised by a deep red dial accented by counters in graduated, fiery tones.
Protected by a sapphire crystal domed on both sides and treated with anti-reflective coating on the inside, the dial features applied hour markers with Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock.
The central hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova to ensure legibility in low-light conditions.
The 10-day power reserve indicator is distinguished by two horse silhouettes: a galloping horse at the fully wound position and a grazing horse when the reserve is depleted.
The screwed sapphire crystal caseback reveals the hand-wound movement, highlighting the large barrel and the balance wheel beating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour).
Each of the 88 examples is individually numbered.
The watch is paired with a dark brown cordovan (horsehide) leather strap secured by a stainless steel folding clasp. The lug width is 22 mm.
Delivered in a special wooden presentation box, the Oris Year of the Horse Limited Edition (ref. 01 113 7806 4088) has a suggested retail price of €6,650. oris.ch
