For fans nostalgic of one of the most well-known TV cartoon series, the brand from Le Locle has rolled out an exclusive edition issued in 1,975 pieces.
With the PRX UFO Robot Grendizer model, the icon of a whole generation seen on the small screen in the mid-70s made a massive comeback, not on the TV, but on wrists in 2024. This year, Tissot pursues its watch adventures with a limited series. The PRX Grendizer 50th Anniversary Special Edition celebrates the year the cartoon series was released. It adorns a black dial decorated with the engraving of the robot’s bust. The silhouette, dressed in Super-LumiNova®, lights up in the dark, as do the hour and minute hands coated with the same luminescent material. The direct-drive stands out with its tip in the shape of an 18-karat gold haken.
The Powermatic 80 caliber, which still delivers a power reserve of 80 hours, nestles inside the 40 mm-diameter, black PVD-coated steel case, waterproof to depths of 100 meters. This selfwinding movement stands out with its oscillating weight featuring a depiction of Grendizer. The PRX Grendizer 50th Anniversary Special Edition comes complete with an integrated tone-on-tone metal bracelet, attached by a folding buckle clasp. For this series, Tissot worked closely with Go Nagai, who created the character. The watch is presented in a UFO Spazer-inspired capsule box, which reiterates the robot’s red and white spaceship. Drawings created exclusively for this edition and hand-signed by the author himself are included in the black and gold outer box.
