Christopher Ward expands its Loco collection with the C1 Loco Classic, a 41 mm model that combines the brand’s hand-wound Calibre CW-003 with a more elaborate dial construction and a highly polished stainless steel case.

Available in black, gold and light blue dial variations, the new watch retains the movement’s symmetrical architecture while introducing a white ceramic time display, a textured base dial and a choice of steel bracelet or leather strap.

The dial is the main visual feature. Its base is grain-sandblasted before being coated with a varnish containing powdered mother-of-pearl, producing an iridescent effect that changes with the light.

Above it sits a white ceramic time display with a Roman numeral chapter ring. Each numeral is laser-engraved and filled with black lacquer by hand, using a microscope and a fine needle.

The hands are diamond-cut, polished and coated in blue PVD, with curved profiles that follow the contours of the dial and domed sapphire crystal.

The exposed free-sprung balance and escapement are positioned below the time display, making the regulating mechanism part of the dial-side composition.

The supporting bridges receive over five hours of hand-finishing.

The case utilizes Christopher Ward’s 41 mm Light-catcher design, made from 904L stainless steel and combining brushed surfaces with polished contours. It measures 14.1 mm in thickness with a 48 mm lug-to-lug distance.

An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a second sapphire crystal in the exhibition case back reveals the movement. The embossed crown and water resistance of 30 metres / 100 feet complete the case specifications.

Power is supplied by the hand-wound Calibre CW-003, a movement originally created for the C12 Loco and subsequently refined for the C1 Loco Classic.

Designed around a symmetrical layout, it comprises 138 components and 29 jewels, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a power reserve of 144 hours, equivalent to six days. Its stated timing tolerance is -0/+7 seconds per day.

The movement’s architecture is visible through the sapphire case back, where twin barrels are arranged above and below an intermediate winding wheel to form three stacked circles.

Horizontal, rounded bridges support the assembly, while the baseplate features a laser-engraved grained texture, polished bevels, and 2N gold plating.

The C1 Loco Classic is available with a 904L stainless steel Consort bracelet developed specifically for the model.

Blending brushed and polished surfaces, it incorporates the iLink system for tool-free link removal, quick-release end links, and an engraved micro-adjustment clasp.
