Mido has introduced a new version of its Ocean Star 200, reference M026.930.11.041.00, a 41 mm mechanical diving watch that combines the collection’s proven technical specifications with a fresh blue dial accented by the brand’s signature orange details.
Part of a collection whose origins date back to 1944, the Ocean Star continues Mido’s long tradition of producing water-resistant watches, a field in which the brand had already established a strong reputation during the 1930s with its Aquadura sealing system.
The latest model remains faithful to the practical philosophy of the collection, offering the essential features expected of a modern dive watch while maintaining balanced proportions suitable for everyday wear.
Crafted from stainless steel with alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes, the case measures 41 mm in diameter and 11.7 mm of thickness with a lug-to-lug length of 47.03 mm.
It is fitted with a screw-down crown and screw-in caseback to ensure water resistance to 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet).
The solid caseback is decorated with a polished relief engraving of a starfish, the longstanding emblem of the Ocean Star collection, while the dial is protected by a sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
The unidirectional rotating bezel features a black aluminium insert with large silver-toned numerals and a luminous reference marker at 12 o’clock.
Rotating only counter-clockwise, it provides a secure method for monitoring elapsed dive time while preventing accidental underestimation of immersion time.
The blue grained dial is designed to maximise legibility through strong contrasts.
Polished nickel-plated applied hour markers and the diamond-cut, tri-faceted hour and minute hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova, ensuring clear visibility in low-light conditions and underwater.
Mido’s orange appears on the tip of the central seconds hand and in the “Caliber 80” inscription.
A sandblasted flange carrying the minute track adds depth to the display, while the day-date aperture at 3 o’clock completes the ensemble.
Powering the Ocean Star 200 is the automatic Mido Caliber 80, based on the ETA C07.621.
Equipped with a Nivachron balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetic fields and shocks encountered during everyday wear, the movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.
The watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet combining satin-brushed outer links with polished centre links.
A folding clasp with an integrated diving extension allows comfortable wear over a wetsuit, while Mido’s quick-change system enables the bracelet to be removed without tools for easy strap changes.
